VITALIZE Offers Antibody and PCR for COVID-19
The Antibody test measures separate antibody responses (IGM & IGG) to one antigen specific to the virus., which indicates that you have been exposed to the virus in the past.
This test involves a quick 5-10 minute visit to one of our location. A blood draw is performed by a licensed medical professional, under strict social distancing and protective protocols to keep you safe.,
The PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test is a swab swab for the virus itself that determines whether you currently have COVID-19 by looking for for the unique coronavirus genetic material. This test is specifically designed to detect the level of virus (antigen) present in your body.
The PCR test allows us to give a diagnosis of COVID-19. This is done through a nasal swab resulting in confirmation within 48 hours.
There is a $75 fee for collecting the specimen, which must be paid for at time of visit or in advance. We can provide you a superbill to seek medical insurance reimbursement from your insurer.
PCR testing (Nasopharyngeal swab): $100 will be billed to your health insurance. If you do not have insurance, you will be billed separately by the lab.
Antibody testing: $42.13 will be billed to your health insurance (except Kaiser). If you do not have insurance, you will be billed separately by the lab.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs
WHAT IS THE TESTING PROCESS
The test is administered to you by visiting one of our VITALIZE clinics and our doctors will obtain a blood sample via a blood draw in your arm. You do not need to fast or have any special preparation for the test. Your visit to VITALIZE is approximately 10-15 minutes.
This is a simple cotton swab that is placed into each nostril for 3 seconds to get a sufficient amount of mucous, which is then placed into a specimen tube and sent to the lab for analysis.
Our labs operate as a high complexity lab with CLIA and CAP certifications.
HOW ARE YOU KEEPING THE VISIT SAFE?
All clients are given a mask to wear and practice social distancing measures and are in private rooms. All surfaces are cleaned with medical grade cleaning supplies after each visit. We aim to make the visit safer than a visit to your grocery store.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF GETTING TESTED?
There are personal and societal benefits to testing for COVID-19. Knowing whether you’ve been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and are potentially contagious can be vital to your health and the health of those around you.
If you test positive for COVID-19, this knowledge will allow you to isolate yourself, even if you are asymptomatic. If you do fall ill from the coronavirus, knowing the cause of your sickness will help your doctor and provider better decide on a treatment for you. Finally, if you have developed antibodies for the virus, you can feel more confident to return to normal activities when government bans have been lifted.
HOW LONG BEFORE I GET MY RESULTS?
The processing time for the lab is currently 1-3 business days. As soon as we receive the lab results, we will contact you. Please forward any positive results to your primary care physician and discuss them with him/her as well. It is important that you keep them informed of your current condition. Our doctors at VITALIZE will also review and interpret all results as well, and are available for questions if you test positive.
AM I STILL CONTAGIOUS IF I HAVE ANTIBODIES? HOW LONG SHOULD I ISOLATE? WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE SYMPTOMS?
Currently, there have been no large-scale studies regarding the presence of antibodies and how contagious you may be. The best advice is to follow CDC guidelines on isolation procedures. If you believe you have been exposed to coronavirus or have COVID-19, you should isolate for 14 days and be asymptomatic (no fever for three days and seven days since first symptoms) before coming out of isolation. If, you have IgM antibodies only, you should assume you have recently been exposed to the virus and need to isolate for 7-14 days.
If someone is showing any of the following symptoms*, seek emergency care immediately:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion
- Inability to wake or stay awake
- Bluish lips or face
*These are not all possible symptoms. Call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or of concern.
Call 911 or call ahead to your local emergency facility: Notify the operator that you are seeking care for someone who has or may have COVID-19.
CAN THE TEST DETECT ANTIBODIES WEEKS AFTER SYMPTOMS AND/OR RECOVERY? OR IS THERE A TESTING WINDOW?
Yes, the Antibody test can detect long term immunity antibodies (IgG), which indicate that you may have had COVID-19 weeks or months ago. Recent data suggest that the antibodies may only last in the body for approximately 3 months. There is no testing window where the results would be more accurate, except in the first few days of contracting COVID when your body has not yet produced antibodies.
WHAT IS THE COST OF THE TEST?
There is a $75 fee for collecting the specimen, which must be paid for at time of visit or in advance. You can seek reimbursement from your insurer.
PCR testing (Nasopharyngeal swab): $100 will be billed to your health insurance.
Antibody testing: $42.13 will be billed to your health insurance (except Kaiser).
HAS THE FDA APPROVED ANTIBODY TESTING?
No. This test is not yet approved or cleared by the United States FDA. When there are no FDA-approved or cleared tests available, and other criteria are met, FDA can make tests available under an emergency access mechanism called an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). The EUA for this test is supported by the Secretary of Health and Human Service’s (HHS’s) declaration that circumstances exist to justify the emergency use of in vitro diagnostics for the detection and/or diagnosis of the virus that causes COVID-19. This EUA will remain in effect (meaning this test can be used) for the duration of the COVID-19 declaration justifying emergency of IVDs, unless it is terminated or revoked by FDA (after which the test may no longer be used).
